Snow and sunshine

The last half of February saw a real mix of weather conditions and changing temperatures. It makes it challenging to keep the sheep in good health and condition leading up to lambing time which starts in March. In bad weather I keep the sheep close to the large barns so that they can get shelter and reprieve during the night. Their haylage and nuts are fed in the dry too so they are not wasted. For the last days of the month I was able to take them right to the end of the farm to fresh grass, as for once I could get the landrover along the fields without churning them up. For now they are back in as driving rain has set in again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for better weather, following the old saying, "In like a lion, out like a lamb".
