Deer in the copse

Last year I was walking along the top edge of uncut hay in the Stone Field and past the Pighut Copse. I glanced up and saw a hind statue-still in the light and shade of the trees and bracken. She was so motionless that the sheepdogs, Sparrow and Jay, sauntered past oblivious of her presence. We looked at each other for several minutes until I broke the spell and walked on. I didn't want the dogs to come back and chase her. The picture of her looking out from under the tress has stayed with me, here I have tried to capture the moment, felting wool from my sheep. The work is in progress with quite a bit of tweaking needed.
