A gift from the past

This week I was given a very old wooden hat mould by a 94 year old lady called Val who I help to care for. Her mother was a Millener in the 1920's. She has been watching with interest my first attempts at making hats (using glass pudding bowls as moulds). The shape of this mould is beautiful and reminds me of the 1920's style. I look forward to trying it out, adapting my felting tecniques to it. For my hats I use my own organic wool mixed in with some Jacobs fleece from my mother's sheep.
